Precautions for the Use of Ball Screws

1) Installation

Be careful not to damage the thread surface of the screw during installation.

Normally, the nut and screw are supplied as an assembled unit. Special attention must be paid not to separate them during installation, as re-assembly by unprofessional personnel is extremely difficult. If separation occurs accidentally, do not attempt forced re-assembly; contact the supplier for professional handling.

2) Lubrication

Since the balls and screw are in metal-to-metal contact, lubricating oil or grease must be applied between them to prevent premature wear and extend service life.

Common lubrication methods include manual lubrication and automatic lubrication:

Manual lubrication involves periodic oil injection by operators.

Automatic lubrication requires an automatic oiling system, which will be elaborated on separately.

3) Dust Prevention

Similar to rolling bearings, ball screws are prone to accelerated wear or even damage when contaminated by debris, water, or cutting fluid. Therefore, dust-proof design for the screw must be considered during the design phase.
