How to Correct the Deformation of Linear Guideways?

As a core component of precision transmission, the storage and straightening process of linear rails and slides directly affects the operation accuracy of equipment. Improper storage and transportation methods can easily cause the linear guide rails to bend and deform, so scientific storage and correction schemes are needed.

Ⅰ. Standard Management of Storage and Transportation

1. Standard Storage Requirements

The linear slide guide rail must be placed horizontally on plane bearings or flat padding plates to ensure uniform force on the bearing surface. When storing vertically, the strength of the support structure should be verified through mechanical calculations, and special brackets should be used to disperse the stress to prevent deflection and deformation caused by their weight.

2. Packaging and Protection Measures

Shock-proof packaging should be used during transportation, and buffer materials should be added at the key stress points of the linear motion guides to avoid collision and impact. Special lifting tools should be used for handling, and single-point lifting or rough handling is strictly prohibited.

II. Deformation Detection and Straightening Technology

1. Calibration of the Reference Guideway

•Error Measurement

Use a spatial straightness measuring instrument to collect three-dimensional data in the horizontal and vertical directions, and calculate the offset of each measuring point relative to the least-squares midline.

•Straightening Process

Technologies such as laser cladding and cold pressing straightening are used to accurately add materials or apply reverse stress to the offset part (offset positions), so that the straightness error is controlled within the micron-level tolerance range.

2. Parallelism Adjustment of the Secondary Guide Rail

•Reference Alignment

Take the calibrated main guide as the reference and use a laser interferometer to establish a spatial coordinate system.

•Precision Adjustment

Monitor in real time with a dial indicator and adjust the installation position of the secondary linear guide rail to ensure that the parallelism error of the least-squares midlines of the two guideways is ≤ 0.02mm/m. Measure the height difference between the head and the tail with a level and make fine-tuning compensation with a shim set.

III. Quality Control During Linear Guide Installation

•Preload Management

Adopt the diagonal step-by-step tightening method during installation and strictly control the bolt preload to avoid local stress concentration.

•Dynamic Detection

Use an electronic level for dynamic detection after installation, and carry out secondary correction for residual deformation to ensure that the fluctuation value of the running resistance of the linear guide pair is < 5%.

By establishing a full-process control system of "storage and transportation protection-precision detection-dynamic correction", the geometric accuracy and motion performance of the linear slide guide rail can be effectively guaranteed, providing a reliable support for the stable operation of high-end equipment. In daily maintenance, the accuracy should be rechecked regularly, and CNC linear guides with excessive wear should be replaced in time to ensure that the equipment is always in the best working state.
